What you’ll learn

Digital Skills Training covers three themed modules: Digital Communication, Digital Creation, and Online Buying and Selling.

Course details:

  • To complete one module, it will cost $120 per person.
  • Each module includes five hands-on workshops that are taught over two weeks.
  • Every workshop will run for 90 minutes and include breaks.
Module 1: Digital Communication

Learn how to use email, stay safe online, and communicate confidently.

Skills you will have after completing this module:

  • Explain what digital communication means and understand why digital communication is important in everyday life
  • Identify different ways people communicate online and the tools used
  • Writing simple, clear emails using polite and professional language
  • Understand the different email functions, such as reply all
  • Recognise different types of scam and phishing emails and how to delete them safely
  • Know what social media is and how it connects people
  • Recognise safe and unsafe behaviour on social media
  • Explain what a digital identity is and why it’s important to protect it
  • Recognise what a government website looks like and what it is used for
  • Understand how to upload and download files

 

Module 2: Digital Creation

Get creative with simple, fun tools for making digital content.

Skills you will have after completing this module:

  • Understanding what digital creation means and why it is important
  • Knowledge of how to use Canva and how to save your work
  • Learn how to write about yourself
  • Understand a resume structure and how to organise skills, education and work history
  • How to create positive self-image content
  • Design simple social media posts and share safely

Module 3: Online Buying and Selling

Learn how to shop and sell online safely and confidently.

Skills you will have after completing this module:

  • Have an understanding of digital promotion
  • Identify different online marketplaces
  • Recognise ways to stay safe online when buying or selling
  • Use keywords to search for an item online
  • Check if a seller is real or safe to buy from and how to communicate with them in a polite and clear way
  • Know what to do if a product is wrong, broken, or doesn’t arrive
  • Understand how to compare products and prices
  • Understand basic online banking functions and the best and safest payment methods
  • Understanding how to become a seller online for products and/or services
  • Understand how to communicate with a buyer in a polite manner
  • Know how to handle questions, returns, problems and feedback or reviews
